Discharge Data Collection Program

In the Spring 2021 legislative session, the State Legislature passed the Alabama Hospital Discharge Data Act that creates a mandatory hospital discharge data program within the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH). Hospitals are required to submit all Inpatient and Outpatient discharges each quarter. The program began April 1, 2022.

Information collected through the program will be helpful to support public health initiatives, quality improvement efforts, as well as provide information to conduct studies and secure grant funding – all of which could positively impact the overall health of our state.
