MONTGOMERY, AL – Jeff Brannon, Vice President of Business Development at Flowers Hospital, has been awarded the Alabama Hospital Association’s Gold Medal of Excellence, the Association’s highest honor. The recognition was presented during the Association’s Annual Meeting on June 5, 2026.
The Gold Medal of Excellence is reserved for individuals whose leadership, service, and contributions have left a lasting impact on healthcare in Alabama. The Alabama Hospital Association Board of Trustees awarded Brannon the Gold Medal of Excellence in recognition of his extraordinary leadership, advocacy and lifelong commitment to advancing healthcare in the state.

Brannon’s healthcare career spans more than 35 years, from his beginnings as an orderly, then a cardiovascular intensive care nurse, to executive leadership roles at hospitals across Alabama, including service as Chief Executive Officer of Flowers Hospital, Medical Center Enterprise, Monroe County Hospital, and Wiregrass Medical Center.
For more than two decades, Brannon has been a driving force in Alabama healthcare through his service to the Alabama Hospital Association, including multiple terms on the Board of Trustees, service as Board Chair, Alabama Delegate to the American Hospital Association, Chair of AlaHA’s Workforce Task Force and Chair of HOSPAC. He has also helped lead transformative workforce initiatives that expanded opportunities for healthcare professionals and strengthened Alabama’s hospital workforce pipeline.
“Many healthcare leaders make an impact within their own organizations. Jeff’s impact extends across an entire state,” said Danne Howard, President and CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association. “For more than 20 years, he has been a trusted leader, tireless advocate and mentor whose work has strengthened hospitals, expanded workforce opportunities and improved healthcare for communities throughout Alabama. He has never sought recognition, but he has earned the respect of everyone who has had the privilege to work alongside him.”
Howard added, “The Gold Medal of Excellence recognizes individuals whose contributions leave a lasting mark on healthcare in Alabama. Jeff Brannon’s leadership, integrity and commitment to serving others make him exceptionally deserving of this honor.”
