Today, May 9, is national Fentanyl Awareness Day. Here are some key facts about fentanyl:

  • Over 150 Americans die each day from synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
  • 60% of fentanyl-laced fake pills tested by the DEA in 2022 contained a deadly dose of illicit fentanyl.  So, the odds are very high that if you don’t get your medication from a healthcare professional it’s likely laced with fentanyl.
  • It only takes 2 milligrams of fentanyl to be deadly. That’s the amount that fits on the tip of a pencil.
  • Fake pills have been found in all 50 states, including Alabama.  Assume any prescription pill you see online is fake, including Oxy, Percocet, Adderall and Xanax.
  • Stay safe and keep your friends safe through knowledge of the dangers and by keeping the drug overdose reversal agent naloxone close by.  Click to order a free naloxone kit and fentanyl test strips.
