Healthy Start and Non-Emergency Transportation Approved in U.S. Subcommittee

 Friday, March 13, 2020

The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee this week approved 13 healthcare bills, including the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act and the Protecting Patients Transportation to Care Act. The Healthy Start Reauthorization Act would reauthorize the Healthy Start program, which provides services for high-risk pregnant women and infants in 34 states including Alabama. The Protecting Patients Transportation to Care Act would codify non-emergency medical transportation on the list of mandatory Medicaid benefits. It would also require state Medicaid programs to have a prior authorization or utilization management process in place.
