Alabama is the first state in the nation to design a program to apply a business driven model to allow for nurse apprenticeships. The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship brings a proven strategy to help employers recruit, train, and retain highly skilled employees into the healthcare workforce. Each Hospital will work one on one with the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship to launch a nurse apprenticeship program. Contact Meredith Smith at (205) 335-2923.
Hospitals will partner with the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship and complete an agreement with a nursing education program in your area and file the agreement with the Alabama Board of Nursing. Each apprenticeship program’s agreement must be on file with BON to allow a prospective student to file for the Student Nurse Apprentice Permit.
