FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 13, 2022

Today, the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA) announced its endorsement of Katie Britt for the U.S. Senate, noting the endorsement is a rare move for the Association. “While we always support many candidates each election cycle, our Association does not typically issue official endorsements,” said Don Williamson, MD, President of AlaHA.

According to the Association’s Deputy Director, Danne Howard, “Katie understands details about issues important to our hospitals and Alabama’s healthcare delivery system. We believe Katie will be a strong voice as we work together to address the complex federal issues that, for decades, have disenfranchised hospitals in states like Alabama in favor of those in states like California.”

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Alabama’s hospitals,” said Katie Britt. “Our medical community and health care professionals do an incredible job serving hardworking Alabamians in every corner of our state. Alabama hospitals not only offer top-notch, lifesaving care, but they also conduct world-class research and generate important economic activity in their communities. We are grateful for the critical work of our health care professionals to keep Alabamians healthy and strong.”

Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization that assists member hospitals in effectively serving the health care needs of Alabama, through advocacy, representation, education, and service.
