Quality - Patient Safety Curriculum Supplements for Nursing Schools

Click here to access a map outlining helpful resources for nursing instructors and hospital orientation leaders.  The map is color-coded by the suggested curriculum level (applicable for two- and four-year schools) and is linked to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's (IHI's) Improvement Map, which provides information on National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures and Hospital-Acquired Conditions.

The first time you click on a link, you will need to download a program called Silverlight to access the IHI Improvement Map.  Silverlight is a free Microsoft application, much like Flash, that runs on either Windows or MAC OS X.  If you have any trouble downloading the program, you should first contact your IT department.  If you continue to experience problems downloading, contact IHI at improvementmap@ihi.org or call (617) 301-4800.

To best view the interactive site, you will want to adjust your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels.  To do this, go to "My Computer, " then "Control Panel," and then "Display."  Click the "Settings" tab to make the resolution change.

The curriculum supplement program was a joint project of the Alabama Hospital Association's Quality Task Force, several schools of nursing, the IHI and The Joint Commission (TJC).  For more information, contact Rosemary Blackmon, rblackmon@alaha.org.
