Hand Hygiene Toolkit
In an effort to help reduce the spread of infection, both in the hospital and in the community, AlaHA’s Quality Task Force has developed a hand hygiene toolkit. The goal is to encourage all hospitals to participate in the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) hand hygiene day, May 5, and to emphasize hand hygiene in the community during Hospital Week. In addition, implementation of this public awareness activity meets the requirement for non-automated hospitals under the Blue Cross Blue Shield’s AHQI tiering component.
The toolkit is divided into two parts: the WHO hand hygiene campaign designed for hospital staff members and patients and the community awareness campaign. Please note, several of the resources provided feature instructions to access videos and other materials on other sites. You should feel free to duplicate the resources provided in this toolkit and link the materials to your Web site.
We hope you will find these tools useful to your hospital, your staff, your patients and your community. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please e-mail Rosemary Blackmon at rblackmon@alaha.org.
